Combo Camps Covid-19 Safety Plan

Following the advice of the RMOW and the guidance provided by the Ministry of Health, Combo Camps will actively:

  • Promote and monitor personal self-care actions
  • Promote and implement the core measures for managing social interaction
  • Establish clear policies to ensure that individuals who have the symptoms of a cold, flu, or COVID-19 do not come into the workplace
  • Conduct frequent cleaning of “high touch” areas  throughout the day and provide hand sanitizer stands at entrances or around the premises
  • Increase use of temporary physical barriers when suitable
  • Support and accommodate higher-risk populations including those 65+ and those with underlying medical conditions

We are already making plans for a heightened level of health and safety for all club activities and camp operations these include:

  • Physical distancing of children & individual class groups
    • In order to protect children and staff, we are utilizing multiple measures to maximize health and safety at camp:
      • Utilizing pieces of equipment and/or barriers to support physical separation and to define specific spaces for individual campers and classes.
      • Signage and communication at the club and camp regarding social distancing, provision of supplies for hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette.
      • Personal Protective Equipment provides protection for those times that physical distancing cannot be maintained.
    • If an instructor is working with a beginner biker, tennis player or participant in any activity and close contact/support is required, PPE has been identified by health officials as suitable mitigation for this situation. Also note that instructors are advised to limit physical contact with children and support the bike or required equipment as opposed to the child wherever possible.
    • Accidents happen; scrapes and bruises are not uncommon at the club and during camp. Our staff all have first aid training and will use their best judgement to balance the need for wound treatment and emotional support, with the need to limit close contact.
    • Campers stay together in their small classes for the week.
    • Classes are assigned to a single instructor.
    • Classes will be distanced between each other.
    • Staggered snack breaks.
  • Personal Protective Equipment as recommended by health authorities
    • Our ultimate goal is to provide safe and healthy activities and camps and still allow staff to have a positive engagement with participants and campers. We will be following the guidelines of our regional health authority with regards to the use of PPE (face coverings in particular) for those times social distancing is not possible.
    • Instructors will be outfitted with multiple uniforms, facilitating frequent cleaning.
  • Enhanced hand washing protocols & facility cleaning
    • Hand sanitizer – will be available to all instructors and campers.
    • Instructions for campers and staff on how to cover mouth/no touching of face.
    • Sanitization of hands will be required before any snack or meal breaks and as a normal part of any bathroom breaks.
  • Adjustments to our training equipment to limit cross-contact
    • Regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces.
    • Sharing of equipment and training aids between campers and classes will be kept to a minimum, but we will be separating out any used equipment for cleaning during each camp day and it will not be allowed for use until cleaned, sanitized and placed into the "Clean Bin".
      • Cleaning of equipment will be as per health guidelines utilizing an approved sanitizing procedure.
  • Health checks for campers & staff
    • Daily health screen for every kid/family.
    • Daily health screen and temperature check for staff.
    • Promotion of stay at home if feeling ill or exhibiting any symptoms.
  • Contactless sign-in and sign-out procedures
    • Designated areas for each class and kid/parent.
    • Specified lanes for parents to line up in.
    • Parents will also be expected to abide by local guidelines during drop off and pick up regarding the use of PPE.
  • Strict "no sharing" policies for food & personal items
